I am an artist educator with a strong desire to heal, restore and do good in the world. I create alternative cultural and living practices that start with simple acts of growing or sharing food - embodying the cultural specifics of human conviviality. Through building communal practices I am interested in the phenomenology of the making process and imagining new educational structures for living. Often starting with pain or conflict my work gets in between these intersections.
I develop restorative happenings and revolutions that merge ecology and humanity then entangles itself with magic and wildness. My work materialises through human interaction, through working together we tend, nurture and grow things. Placing emphasis on research through practice, learning through doing, interdisciplinary and collaborative exchange.
Since 2018 I have worked with Grand Union as their Collaborative Programme Curator and initiated their Collaborative Programme The Growing Project. I am a founding member of Bearwood Pantry, a community activist group and currently sit on the Board of Bearwood Hub working towards a newly imagined community space. I have co-directed Public Artist Limited a community interest company which worked to facilitate creative developments between community, commerce and culture. I also am a board member of We Go Outside Too, a community organisation that provides opportunities for intergenerational Black community members across Birmingham, Black Country and West Midlands to participate in walking, nature based learning and holistic workshops.
